Impac has further strengthened its multimedia operations with the purchase of DuBOIS, the global licenser and European manufacturer of the injection moulded Amaray DVD case.
The company, which invented the market-leading Amaray case, is also working with Sony on the PlayStation II game box. But to maximise its global potential it needed to find a partner to help it keep pace with its funding requirements.
"DuBOIS is an outstanding business with a first-class management team," said Impac Europe chief executive Lee Newbon. "We are always interested in companies that have developed world-leading products and in DuBOIS we have found a business that has captured a significant share of the DVD packaging market.
"And we're still on the acquisition trail," he added.
DuBOIS, which has sales of 19m in 1999, has extensive experience in the design and manufacturing of plastics packaging for entertainment products. It has manufacturing facilities in Corby and in Hannover and boasts an impressive customer list that includes the BBC, Universal Pictures, MGM, Twentieth Century Fox, Columbia-Tristar and Paramount.
