Entertainment packaging specialist DuBOIS has opened a 7m purpose-built production facility to meet demand for its Amaray DVD-Safepack.
The greenfield facility, one mile from the companys existing plant in Corby, will double production capacity of all types of packaging to a potential 150m units per annum.
It will also provide 12,000m2 of custom-built production, warehousing and office space.
Sales and marketing director Anthony Fraser said that DVD packaging now accounted for 50% of the companys output. And he predicted that if current trends continued that figure could rise to 75%.
European market demand for DVD has grown 100% in the past 12 months.
DuBOIS, which is part of AGI Media Packaging, also produces VHS packaging and a range of other specialist media packaging.
Transfer of work from the existing site would be on a gradual basis with all 180 jobs safeguarded, Fraser said. Production is based on individual cell units, which include an injection-moulding unit and all the ancillary machinery needed in the production process.
These will be transferred to the new facility with plans to invest in new cells to meet increased demand.
