Former B&P directors buy consumables division out of administration

B&P Lightbrigade's consumables division has been sold out of administration to a new company set up by two previous B&P directors.

B&P Graphic Supplies, incorporated on 27 February and headed up by former directors Andrew Wilson and Lorraine Whitburn, bought the engineering maintenance arm of the company after Vantis Business Recovery Services (BRS) failed to find a buyer for the Surrey-based digital printer and supplier in its entirety.

The sale took place on 23 March after Nick O'Reilly and Phil Armstrong, client partners at BRS, received interest from a number of buyers but ran out of time because of timescales imposed due to the company’s financial position.

All the company's staff were made redundant on 13 March. The administrators’ agents are now selling the assets of the B&P Lightbrigade Group, which will include digital printing kit.

O’Reilly said: "We continued to trade the business for two weeks during the administration period, as we had hoped to find a buyer for the company in its entirety. Unfortunately this was not possible within the timescales imposed by the company’s financial position, and so we were forced to cease trade.

"Subsequently a buyer was found for the consumables division of the company, which will include the continuation of engineering maintenance contracts, and we completed a sale to B&P Graphic Supplies, which is headed up by former directors Andrew Wilson and Lorraine Whitburn."

Prior to its administration, B&P Lightbrigade had sites in Chertsey and Manchester. It went into administration last month due to cash flow problems.
