Enfocus is to incorporate Certify PDF technology into workflow tools available from the company and its OEMs.
It makes PDF a very robust format, it can be considered as robust or more so than TIFF-IT or CT/LW, said chief executive Peter Camps.
Enfocus products set to use it include PitStop Professional and PitStop Server. It has also launched a new PDF creation application, Instant PDF, which combines Certify PDF with EZ-PDF, a PDF creation utility that it bought earlier this year. Certify PDF will be discontinued.
Instant PDF is now the product, Certify PDF is the technology, said Camps.
OEM products that will use the technology include Fujis Celebrant Extreme workflow and Agfas Apogee Create.
Certify PDF-enabled software allows printers to ensure that files have been created and pre-flighted correctly, saving the time of performing another pre-flight.
It makes the PDF file self-aware, said Camps. It has the pre-flight settings and knows if it meets those rules and has the history of the file.
In Belgium Medibel, the equivalent of the PPA, is using Certify PDF as part of its file submission specification and has seen files supplied with errors drop from 47% to less than 1%.
Instant PDF will cost 184 (E299), PitStop Pro 380 and PitStop Server 1,180.
