Enfocus has launched a new tool that it claims will make pre-flighting PDF files simpler, quicker and more robust.
The firm's Certified Workflow concept aims to cut out the need for pre-flighting the same file several times and guarantee that it has been pre-flighted according to the correct specification.
It is used in the firm's latest piece of software, Certify PDF, a 160 (e249) plug-in for Adobe Acrobat.
"Pre-flight status is shown in the Acrobat toolbar very visibly," said Enfocus chief executive Peter Camps.
It uses pre-flight profiles Enfocus software creates for remote sites to ensure files are correctly checked.
The profile used at the remote site is recorded along with the results. If the correct profile has been used it avoids the need to re-check the file.
It also tracks all the changes made to a file along with the date, time and operator that made the change. The details are embedded in the PDF itself, providing a log of the changes carried out. It is also possible to undo any incorrect changes.
Another feature is the ability to check if the pixels of two PDF files match. The program will flag up differences between two versions of a file which have been edited with other applications that do not use the Certified Workflow concept.
It will be available via Enfocus's UK resellers - Litho Supplies, Digital Toolbox and XChange International.
The firm has updated the rest of its product range including PitStop Professional, PitStop Server, PowerUp PDF and WebPerfect PDF, to support Enfocus Certified Workflow. A free upgrade is available to registered users.
