The Kolbus perfect-binding line, which can run at speeds up to 15,000 copies per hour, will form the centre-point of the new department, based in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire.
Diamond's new machine is equipped with PUR and two shot hot melt gluing, card gluing, a six-station inserting line and fully automated packing.
Roger Brent, Diamond's sales director, said: "Being part of a group with extensive firepower already in place at our existing plant we are perfectly placed to expand into what is for us an exciting new market."
The first job will be run on the binding line tomorrow (1 August).
