Continua posts record growth following contract wins

Xerox-subsidiary Continua has cited several large contract wins and a reduction in capacity within the service and support arena as the primary reasons behind its record revenue growth in 2008.

The Luton-based equipment and service provider grew revenues to more than £14m – a 26% year-on-year increase on 2007 – thanks to new clients picked up from a number of service provider casualties.

Brian Cuddy, who was appointed managing director of Continua in August last year, said: "Growth throughout the year was strong, equally so in the second half."

The company recorded an increase in the number of service contracts it signed, rising to 30 from an average of 15, and posted a strong showing in its consumables offering.

Cuddy added: "In 2009, you have to be realistic, but we'll continue to focus on what's been successful for us in 2008."

The company's revenue peaked to an all-time monthly high in May last year, when it reached £1.6m due, in part, to two large contract wins in the financial sector.

Continua offers maintenance and training services for print to post-press equipment, as well as kit and consumable sales.

"You have to be flexible, managing the business on a weekly and monthly basis, but we'll continue to put the customer at the centre," Cuddy said.
