Beacon Printers (Penarth) invests in Wales' first Xerox Docucolor 7002AP

Beacon Printers (Penarth) has invested in Wales' first Xerox Docucolor 7002AP digital press, a machine it anticipates will help it compete for "very large" print projects.

The 62-year-old business has replaced a Docucolor DC5000AP with the new 70ppm machine, which arrived last month.

Dave Stafford, managing director at Beacon Printers, said: "We bought the DC7002AP to service the lower end of our Press Stream business, where cost and speed of turnaround are paramount. The results are outstanding.

"This addition to our fleet will enable us to compete for very large projects, offering the best possible quality, cost and customer service combination to a vast range of customers."

Beacon's DC7002AP can print at resolutions of 2,400dpi and handle substrates ranging from 60-300gsm. The maximum sheet size is 320x488mm and the machine is pitched at average monthly volumes of between 75,000 and 300,000.

The Vale of Glamorgan-based business opted for the Xeretec-supplied digital press after deciding that the supplier had "a firm understanding" of its business.

"We have always found Xeretec to be the most knowledgeable and competitive source of Xerox equipment," said Stafford.

"As well as supplying the complete range of Xerox solutions they handled our finance contract with speed and efficiency."
