Alderson installs third KBA Rapida

Surrey-based Alderson Printing Company has installed its third KBA press, a five-colour KBA Rapida 106, concluding the investment in its POS division that was announced last year.

The B1 machine with coater replaces a six-colour Heidelberg CD press and has been fitted with alcohol reduction features, automatic plate changing and SIS - sensoric sideguide-free infeed system.

It also boasts an extended 2,400mm delivery, CIP3 and QualiTronic Professional inline density measurement and control system and is configured for low power consumption.

Chief executive Peter Alderson said: "In the last few years we have invested heavily in plant to complete our unique 'all on one site' selling proposition. The primary reason for any new investment is to keep ahead of the field with the latest technology and build a capability that anticipates market demand.

"We take ISO colour and management standards very seriously at Alderson's and the QualiTronic element of this package is crucial to us; it is essential that we improve efficiencies without compromising on quality."

The KBA 106 joins two other secondhand KBA Rapidas: a 205 and a five-colour 162a, and is installed at the company's sheetfed division which was launched last year.
