Alderson aims to be POS market leader with new role and press

Alderson Print Group plans to become a "market leader" in the point-of-sale (POS) market after recruiting former St Ives Multimedia group sales director Mark Vincent in a business development role within its POS division.

Vincent's appointment as new business development director at the group's £6m POS operation comes as the company confirmed an order for a five-colour KBA Rapida 106 with coater and extended delivery, due to arrive in November.

The KBA press will become the company's third machine from the manufacturer, following the installation of two secondhand KBAs, a 205 and a five-colour 162a, when the division launched last May.

Commenting on his recent appointment, Vincent said: "Alderson has a responsive business culture and the main board at Alderson Print Group support this superbly. Together, we will continue to grow Alderson Point of Sale Division into a market leader."

He added: "One of the biggest challenges our customers face is building brand and product awareness. We can provide the most comprehensive range of bespoke print and packaging resources possible, all from one site, in south-west London."

Peter Alderson, joint managing director of Alderson Print Group, said the POS division aimed to serve as much of the market as possible with Vincent on board. "Mark brings with him a great deal of professionalism, knowledge and contacts within the industry," he said.

"With his appointment and our new investments, I have high hopes for the division."

The POS division's portfolio of print equipment, which also includes a PlateRite Ultima 36000 VLF platesetter and three HP digital printers – a Turbojet 8500, a DesignJet 5500 and a DesignJet 8000 – is set to be complemented by the imminent arrival of an EskoArtwork Kongsberg cutting table later this month.

According to Vincent, the Kongsberg investment will enable the business to "respond to virtually every possible requirement".

"We handle a range of services: web offset, digital, sheetfed, specialist finishing and POS. We are one business with a single face to our customers who have multiple print needs," he said.
