Roland and GMG focus on low-cost mock-ups

Roland and software company GMG have twinned their technology to offer low-cost mock-ups from the Roland VersaUV LEC-330 inkjet printer.

According to the pair, the GMG printer driver for the Versa, which enables the fast creation of mock-ups, helps packagers and labellers fine tune prototype, mock-up and small-batch production.

The VersaUV LEC-330 supports paper, transparent films, aluminium foils, PE and PET foils and plastic used for offset, flexography, roto-gravure and screen printing.

"High-opacity ECO-UV white ink is ideal for transparent media, while ECO-UV clear ink can simulate gloss and matte finishes, embossed effects, and spot varnishing," a spokesman said.

GMG software enables the Versa to achieve a visual match with the main print processes, such as flexography, offset and gravure printing, even for spot colours.

"Compared with traditional systems for mock-up creation in packaging and labels, this produces highly colour-accurate mock-ups at a fraction of current costs," he added.
