Precision plans major extension to house 3m equipment spend

Precision Printing is set to unveil a 1700sqm extension after spending 3m on new equipment at Drupa.

The Barking-based printer, which bought a 10-colour Heidelberg XL75, a Hohner HSB 10,000 stitching line and an MBO Navigator K800 at Drupa, will open its new facility on 4 July.

Precision's new machinery is currently being installed following discussions about floor plans with Vision in Print, the printing industry forum.

The new facility, which will nearly double the company's existing floor space, will house printing presses and finishing equipment and produce mainly commercial work.

Andy Skarpellis, production director at Precision Printing, said: "We've been doing fantastic business and needed the extra capacity to cope. As a business, we are doing things right, and the numerous contracts we've had are testament to that.

"The purchase of the Hohner will speed up business considerably. After six months of research, its full automation feature was the clincher. We now expect an efficiency increase of around 80%."

Precision Printing recently installed the UK's first HP Indigo 7000 digital press. Since relocating from its Clerkenwell premises in 2005, turnover has almost doubled and is expected to cross the £10m mark this year.
