Océ rolls out PrintExpress in US

Stepping into what is still an emerging print management space in the US, Océ Business Services this week launched Océ PrintExpress to provide easily accessible professional print and finishing service along with next-day or on-demand delivery.

PrintExpress will operate 24/7, requires no software other than a web browser and provides consistent pricing and output even for companies with offices across the country.

In an interview with PrintWeek, Chris Bucher, Operations Manager, Tri-State Region for Océ Business Services, suggested they're targeting a broad array of companies. "In some cases larger companies needing to reduce their real estate footprint and on-site convenience print devices can utilize the service to supplement their on-site print shop," he said.  "Small organizations can leverage Océ PrintExpress to provide their end users with many of the services they'd have in a local print shop," he said.

PrintExpress offers on demand print that enables companies with a deadline to submit print jobs at late as 10pm for next day delivery. It also features The Publishing Market Place, which enables companies to create an online storefront through which their customers or employees can order print materials when needed. Both options give companies the ability to monitor and control activity with cost and usage reports, which can be detailed according to such categories as user, job or billing codes.

"All printing is produced by our fulfillment partner in three strategically located hubs across the US located outside FedEx distribution facilities:  Newark NJ, Memphis TN and Hazelwood CA," Bucher explained, noting that not all work will be done on Océ equipment. "Printing is produced on a variety of output devices made by multiple vendors; however, each individual job is produced on the same type of technology to allow for a consistent output for each job produced. "

PrintExpress is focused only on the US, but documents and other printed materials produced domestically can be delivered anywhere in the world where FedEx has a presence, Bucher said, adding, "Our fulfillment partner has plans to also launch a facility in Europe in 2012."
