Nigerian Watch newspaper to launch next month

New publishing company Green World Media is to launch its first title at the end of next month.

Nigerian Watch will be a free monthly newspaper, aimed at the Nigerian community, predominantly around the greater London area.

Printed by Newsfax, the title will have an initial print-run of 15,000 and 48pp pagination when it is launched on 27 April.

Green World Media plans to distribute the title via a number of African retail outlets in the London area, including hair salons, corner shops and restaurants.

Around 174,000 Nigerian-born residents live in the UK, with around 106,000 of those located in the capital.

Editor Ayo Akinfe said: "Nigerian Watch will reflect the unique status of the Nigerian hybrid community by reconnecting the Diaspora with the Nigerian agenda."

Green World Media managing director Maryanne Jemide added: "The initial feedback we’ve received from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. It is an honour to showcase the many contributions of Nigerians to the UK."
