The Borehamwood, Hertfordshire-based business operates a Xerox digital operation andthe 1000 machine, which was launched earlier this year at Ipex, has replaced an outgoing DocuColor 8000.
Matthew Weir, director at Kellmatt, said the addition of the 1000 machine would enable the company to increase productivity while printing longer-runs digitally.
"We now have a full suite of digital presses that allow us to cater for jobs from the short-run smaller pieces right up to the much longer runs," he said.
The Xerox 1000 model can print up to 100 A4 pages per minute on a maximum sheet size of 330 x 488mm. It can handle stocks ranging from 55-350gsm with a list price of £272,000.
Although digital only makes up a quarter of the 12-staff company's output, Weir said that there was a "100%" chance that this will grow in the new year and beyond.
"There is no doubt about it. I think it is a sign of the industry as a whole too. There is no way that digital will not play a bigger part of what we do in the future," he added.
The company was established 20 years ago producing work for one client, by printing rectangular labels for cassette tapes. In addition to its latest Xerox 1000, the business operates a Xerox DocuColor 8000AP, a Nuvera 100 mono press, in-house finishing and a raft of print management and design services.
