HP latex Designjet platform maintains momentum

HP made in excess of 50 sales of its new latex Designjet L28500 and L26500 printers following a successful 'golden ticket' promotion to raise awareness of the platform.

The manufacturer ran the initiative at last month's Sign & Digital 2012 event where it as offering £1,000 cashback for customers investing in the new Designjet machines.

Among the customers to sign at the show was DrWraps Signworks founder Ramzan Anwar, who will use the Designjet L26500 to fulfil the company's first orders.

Another sale was made to Sunderland-based, large-format printer, Where The Trade Buys, which opted for a L28500 model; the company's seventh Designjet machine.

Phil Oakley, UK & Ireland country manager for HP Designjet GSB said demand for the golden ticket promotion outstripped demand.

He said: "In addition, visitors showed a huge amount of interest in the other solutions from our large-format portfolio and the total orders placed included several for the HP Scitex FB500 and FB700 Printers.

"In my opinion, Sign & Digital 2012 was one of our most successful UK shows in the last five years based on the amount of customer orders placed."

Budgeprint was the first company to take advantage of the promotion, investing in a HP Designjet L26500 wide-format printer in a bid to boost its environmental credentials and cut turnaround times.

The Designjet L26500 is the successor to the L25500 has a 40kg reel capacity and a maximum print speed 22.8sqm/hr, which falls to 6.3sqm/hr in 16 pass mode.

HP's new double-sided printing workflow allied with an Optical Media Advance Sensor (OMAS) on the printer enables double-sided printing with minimal operator intervention.

The printer is compatible with more than 500 substrates, including HP's new double-sided HDPE reinforced banner material.
