Gopsons orders India's first 130a presses

Indian book printer Gopsons Papers has bought the first two KBA Rapida 130a large-format sheetfed presses in India.

The two four-colour 130a presses will be installed at the company's Sivakasi plant in south India.

According to KBA India business manager Aniruddha Chatter-jee, the large-format machine is the first of its size to be installed in India, which will put the company ahead of its competitors in the book printing market.

Both presses have a top speed of 15,000sph and a maximum sheet size of 965x1,300mm, accepting substrates up to 0.7mm.

The new additions are the second KBA (6/D560) investment Gopsons has made in just three months, after it invested in a Rapida 105 in February.

Gopsons is one of the largest book printers in India and the new presses will join a KBA-equipped printroom that includes KBA Rapida 105s and one KBA Rapida 74.
