Print's intrepid entrepreneurs

One of PrintWeek's sister titles, Management Today, has a feature on Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs in its January issue.

While the list is headed by someone from an oil services company, and in fact four of the top ten are oil-related, I was delighted to spot Moonpig's Nick Jenkins breaking into the top 20 at number 19. He was at 40-something last time the survey was published, so it's quite a leap, and further recognition of Moonpig's stellar growth.

Nick is the only print-related person I can see on the list (what, no Simon Biltcliffe, I hear you cry?), but I'm not too despondent about that. We have a rich heritage when it comes to notable print entrepreneurship, names such as Bob Gavron, Mike Hunter, Mike Taylor and David Mitchell spring immediately to mind, along with present-day examples such as the aforementioned Bilty, Mitchell (again), Nick Dixon and Rick Taylor at Lateral, the Green brothers at Tangent, Linden Kitson at Lick, and Tony Rafferty at Printing.com.

I could of course add to this list all of print's owner-manager print bosses, who are by definition, entrepreneurs in a league of their own.

If there were to be an exclusively print-related version of this survey, who would get your vote?
