The Printing Charity has urged workers left out of pocket by the sudden administration of YM Group’s web division sites to use its support mechanisms as needed.

Administrators from FRP Advisory were appointed at York Mailing, Pindar Scarborough and YM Chantry on 31 March, with most of the 512 staff made redundant immediately, and left unpaid for their March wages and overtime – despite having previously been assured by YM that they would be paid.

CEO Neil Lovell told Printweek that the charity had been able to work with the administrators and Unite the union to pass on its contact details, but said it was always difficult to reach everybody in this kind of situation.

“Being on the end of anything like this is going to be a shock. We can help people work through it and point them in the direction of where the help is. That’s what we’re here for,” he said.

“If people are really struggling, they can call 24 hours a day and get support,” he explained.

TPC offers a free helpline on 0333 212 3534, or people who would prefer to email can contact the charity via support@theprintingcharity.org.uk.

“With a financial shock like this it can take a long time to recover. We can provide advice and support where needed,” Lovell added.

“Everyone is impacted in a different way. The challenge always is when people are no longer on-site, it can be hard to contact them.”

Separately, jobseekers can also upload their CVs to the Printweek Jobs site at jobs.printweek.com.
