The Corby, Northamptonshire-based business completed the deal to purchase the fellow Corby firm last Monday (1 February).

Riverside owner Duncan Raison told Printweek: “We saw an opportunity to diversify our existing print offering; we offered sheetfed litho, digital and some wide-format printing but have now been able to add signage, display and screen printed items.”

While the value of the deal was not disclosed, Raison said the purchase was funded from cash held within Riverside Printers.

Action Screen will be incorporated into the wider group and will now trade under the Riverside Printers name.

Three of Action Screen’s four staff, not including the previous owner, have been taken on as part of the deal and will move into Riverside’s site along with the company’s printing and finishing equipment.

This includes a Fujifilm Acuity UV flatbed printer, two Zünd XL cutting systems, two Roland DG wide-format printers, silk-screen printing equipment, two Seal laminators and a Polar 150 guillotine.

Riverside already operated two Heidelberg litho presses, a four-colour plus coater and a two-colour machine, a Heidelberg Cylinder, two Xerox Versant 3100 digital production printers, wide-format kit from Canon, and a wide range of finishing equipment from manufacturers including Polar, Duplo and Vivid.

Riverside now employs 16 staff following the acquisition and Action Screen’s turnover of around £250,000 will boost its combined sales to around £1.85m.

The company moved into its current 790sqm leased premises in May 2020 as it required more space to serve its wide range of customers, spanning industries including the food sector and retail as well as the NHS.
