Plockmatic eyes SMEs with booklet combo

Wednesday, December 14, 2005

Plockmatic is targeting smaller-sized printers with a cross between two of its booklet machines.

The hand-fed Plockmatic Booklet-Station (pictured) makes 1,800 A4 and A5 booklets an hour and comes with a specially designed trolley and stand.

"Small to medium-sized printers have two machines in one smart combination wheeled where it's needed," said Dick Reynolds, managing director of supplier BABS International.

The cross between the 60 BinderPro bookletmaker and 104 SquareFold made booklets look "really professional" for less money than perfect-bound books, he said. "Printers can edge trim a pile of flat books without the pile falling forward."

The machine costs 7,645 and handles up to 22 sheets of 80gsm for an 88pp book. Existing PL60 models can be fitted with the SquareFold for 4,265.
