New year predictions: Alan Wright, Magnet Harlequin Group

MHG’s executive chairman Alan Wright thinks the industry should work on diversifying and improving communications in 2019, while he will be going with the flow and trying to find time to perfect his yoga practice – hopefully on his new mat.

What’s at the top of your Christmas wish list this year?
A new yoga mat.

What trend (business or technology) do you think 2018 will be remembered for
Clients benefiting from end-to-end supply (concept to consumer).

What do you think will represent the single biggest opportunity for printers in 2019 and why?
Diversification.

What do you think will represent the single biggest threat for printers in 2019 and why?
Not diversifying. 

What’s the one thing that the industry should do more of, or do better, in 2019
Communicate with each other. 

What was your biggest disappointment in 2018?
I’m struggling here… 

What was your highlight of 2018?
MHG breaking into the US – a huge opportunity for us.

What are your hopes for 2019?
Health, happiness and prosperity for all.

What is your one-word view on Brexit?
Tricky.

What was the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
That honesty is the easiest thing to remember.

What if anything will you do differently in 2019?
More yoga.

A “yes” from my wife Sue when I proposed to her back in 1992.
