Magnadata snaps up Norprint Labelling

Norprint Labelling Systems has been bought by Magnadata group.The acquisition is part of Magnadatas strategy to become one of the lead players in RFID technology. Both firms are based in Boston with Magnadata specialising in manufacturing magnetic and smartcard products.

Norprint supplies labels, tags, tickets and software to more than 3,000 companies throughout Europe.

Magnadata Group managing director Roy Colclough (pictured) said that that both companies complemented each other.

"It creates a stronger business and the wider product diversity will enhance our ability to grow and develop into exciting new markets," said Colclough.

He added: "There are a number of key business issues that need to be addressed,

but at the moment we have no plans to make people redundant."

Norprint will retain its name but there will be a new logo "in keeping with the Magnadata Group".

"Our future target is to be the leading RFID company in the market and both Magnadata and Norprint have a successful history in that area," said Colclough.

Norprint has a turnover of 18.8m with a workforce of 226 while Magnadata's turnover is 13.2m with 193 staff.

Magnadata's customers include London Underground and Royal Mail. Norprint's clients include Asda, Marks & Spencer, Jaguar and Sainsbury's.
