BOP in Bengaluru enters digital arena with Canon C7010 VP

Bengaluru-based BOP DigiExpress announced their venture in digital printing with the inauguration of Canon Imagepress C7010 VP on 22 September 2011 at its unit in CottonPet, the industrial printing hub in Bengaluru.

BOP DigiExpress  is a sister company of the 25-year old Banglore Offset Printers which specialises in printing of covers for notebooks on its numerous sheetfed machines.

"As commercial offset printers, we were getting a lot of inquiry for the printing of short-run digital jobs which we had to outsource or divert the customer to some other printer. With C7010 VP, we aim to supply these job offers for business cards, invitations, variable data printing, personalisation and garment tags," said G Arumugam, director of BOP DigiExpress. "It will also fulfill our in-house need for hard copy proofs to be sent to our clients."

It is the option of providing both matt and gloss finishing that made Arumugam finalise C7010 VP over its competitors in this range.

"Apart from the work we were getting, we have around 10 to 15 corporate clients whom our ultimate aim is to cater with a web-to print model," added Arumugam.

BOP will be using ITC’s Digi Art paper for printing on C7010 VP. The machine offers a width of 13 x 19.2 inches and can handle substrates of up to 350 gsm using toner technology.

The company directors, G Arumugam and his brother Santosh are software engineers who entered into the family business in 2006. They represent the seond generation print entrepreneurs who keep themselves constantly updated with the market need and plan accordingly.

When this scribe visited the BOP unit, Arumugam had found out a solution for his concern on the raw material movement.

Arumugam has already finalised a CTP system which will be housed at the same unit. "This digital venture, and later the CTP platesetter installation are steps towards becoming a complete solution provider for any kind of print jobs. We will be completely ready with this model after we install a web-offset machine and strengthen our bindery," said Arumugam.
