Banbury invests in Tharstern Primo MIS

Banbury Litho has signed for a Tharstern Primo MIS at Ipex.

Banbury invested in the system to boost automation at its plant as part of an overall circa £1m upgrade, which also included the installation of a Heidelberg XL 75 press in December.

“Since establishing in 1979 it’s always been our policy to invest when we are able to so we can keep up with the latest technology. This MIS keeps the software side of things in line with the other technology we have in the plant,” said director Adam Goodway.

The system will replace a ten-year-old Prinect system.

Key attractions were the software’s levels of automation and it offering real time updates on portable devices such as tablets and iPhones, said Goodway.

“That’s important because we run a 24 hour finishing shift so it’s important to see what jobs are done at what time,” he said. “It’s getting that seamless transition from estimate to job bag and onto the presses. We’ll be able to take out any meaningless touch points in the business.”

Banbury is looking to make further investments later this year.

“We are always responding to our clients’ needs so we are open minded about what those investments might be,” said Goodway.
