Star product: ProCut 74 automatic die-cutter

German company Kama has launched its portfolio of die-cutters in the UK market, which include its multifunctional ProCut 74 automatic machine.

The machine’s wide range of small to medium-sized finishing processes include die-cutting, creasing, perforating, kiss-cutting and cold embossing at speeds of up to 5,000 sheets per hour.

It is available in 74x54cm and 74x60cm versions, which handle a maximum sheet size of 740x540cm and 740x600mm respectively, and a minimum of 279x210mm. It processes a range of materials including paper, paperboard and cardboard between 100gsm and 1,500gsm as well as micro-corrugated board up to 1.8m.

ProCut 74 is the successor to the firm’s cylinder cutter and provides double the output and improved cutting quality. However, the dies on the cylinder can still be used on the new machine.

Additional hot foil stamping and hot cut modules are available for the ProCut 74, which can be easily added and removed from the machine.

The hot foil stamping unit can produce hot foil stamping and embossing in one pass, has two foil feeders with individually programmable servo-drives and has independently controlled heating zones. It handles substrates up to 1,000gsm at speeds of 4,000 sheets per hour.

The hot cut module uses heated cutting and creasing blades (12mm of strip steel in an aluminium die) and is designed for processing plastics. It handles a maximum sheet thickness of 1.5mm and a minimum of 0.1mm and works at speeds of up to 4,500 sheets per hour.

All machines are supplied by Kama’s Oxfordshire-based UK-arm.
