Star product: iWay Managed Service

Two firms have joined forces to give small to medium-sized commercial printers a way into web-to-print capability without the heavy cost of hardware and back-up.

Graphic arts supplier Transeo Media has teamed up with software firm Press-sense to launch a lower-cost version of the latter’s existing iWay print-on-demand workflow, which comes with hardware and a price tag of around £30,000.

The new system, iWay Managed Server, costs less than £10,000 and involves no boxes, says James Gray, managing director of Transeo Media. All users need is internet access to pull down jobs and print them.
“It allows printers and digital service providers to have all the features of the standalone iWay platform without the headaches and cost of buying and installing IT infrastructure,” he says.

“They can gradually build their business by using the advantages of web ordering, job tracking and online
paying. If they become successful they can migrate to the full standalone version without losing work, templates and business.”

iWay is Press-sense’s flagship product and complies with a variety of industry standards, including JDF and VDP output. Gray says iWay Managed Service can be easily integrated into any printing environment.
It allows users to roll out jobs efficiently and to increase volumes, reduce operational costs and push up profit, he says. Customer orders can be placed and processed at any time so on-demand business hours no longer limit the business.
