Me & My... Cito RSP Easy Inline Finishing System

Tim Sell, managing director of Newport-based Crossprint, tells Simon Creasey how this machine is saving his company time and money

Describe your business
Crossprint produces eco-friendly jobs, including brochures, magazines, books, leaflets, booklets, flyers, folders, greetings cards, calendars, NCR sets, invitations and stationery.

What does the machine do?
It allows you to perforate, cut, die-cut and kiss-cut inline on one of your printing or coating units without any press modification.

Why did you choose this particular machine?
The versatility of the RSP Easy Inline Finishing System really stood out to us, as well as the added value of bringing our finishing in-house, which is saving us time and money.

Did you look at any other similar machines?
There are none on the market that offer the same flexibility.

Why did you make the purchase?
We had been sending our work out to be finished, but by investing in the RSP Easy Inline Finishing System, we can minimise the work we send out, allowing us to keep the profit.

What features do you particularly like?
The system was easy to fit on the fifth unit of our Ryobi, which enables us to print and perforate, die-cut or crease in one press pass.

Is there anything that you dislike?
No.

Is there anything that you wish it had that it doesn’t?
Nothing that I can think of.

How fast is it?
It runs at the same speed as our litho press – up to 15,000 sheets per hour.

How reliable is it?
It’s very reliable. We have had no reliability issues with it whatsoever.

What’s the quality like?
Good. The system is built to an exceptional quality.

How easy is it to use?
It’s very easy to use. We have had no issues with it at all.

How much time or money has it saved?
In about six weeks the RSP Easy Inline Finishing System will have paid for itself, so everything afterwards will be money saved and because it runs at the same speed as our Ryobi, it saves us man-hours depending on the length of the run.

Has it won you any new work?
No, but I am confident that it will do in time.

Would you say that it offers value for money?
Yes.

Were there any difficulties during the installation or after?
No, the system was quick and easy to install. With delivery of the system, we received a detailed instruction manual and installation DVD, which contained step-by-step instructions that were simple and straightforward.

What about the pre- and after-sale service?
The Cito staff were all very good. They were always on hand to answer any questions I had.

Who do you think the machine is right for?
It would benefit all offset printers – the flexibility will add value to any press.

Under what circumstances would you buy another?
We will buy another RSP Easy Inline Finishing System for our Ryobi 755 five-colour B2 press

The informative DVD and instructions mean that it’s simple-to-use, so it can be utilised straight out of the box.
