Vivid (A2-D50) has unveiled what it claims is the world’s first all-in-one laminator and applicator at Fespa Global Print Expo in Munich.

The Leicestershire, UK-based manufacturer said the new Easymount Hybrid flatbed laminator is a multi-patented innovation with unique hover technology, and roll-to-roll technology for long-run and roll-fed laminating.

Vivid product and sales manager Lewis Evans said: “The new system is designed to perform, built to last, and developed in-house by Vivid.

“The Hybrid laminator is a modular system that can be configured according to your specific production needs and incorporates both a traditional roll-fed laminator and a flatbed applicator.”

He added the device saves on the need for having two systems.

“The patented floating rollers on the Easymount Hybrid laminator save time and keeps substrates in perfect condition.

“The Easymount Hybrid laminator is an all-in-one system and the world’s first laminator and applicator. This latest innovation by Vivid is a solution that can help customers improve their competitive edge, save on space and money.”

The device has a maximum width of 1.6m, a mounting thickness of 45mm, and a laminating speed of 6m/min. Swing-out arms enable easier loading of laminate and film.

Vivid said the machine was most suited to laminating single banners; reel-to-reel laminates; posters, graphics, and signs; pop-up displays; outdoor signage; for mounting prints to boards; and for applying vinyls, tapes, and adhesive films.

The machine is commercially available as of this week. Vivid said customers should contact the company for pricing details.

Vivid is also showing its VeloBlade Nexus range for wide-format digital die-cutting; its Matrix systems for lamination, foiling, and special effects; and the Easymount systems for wide-format lamination. It is also demonstrating the latest developments in its Zip Core packaging software and showing its VeloTaper fully automated flatbed taping system.
