Summa to release new 3.2m-wide cutters

Summa is to release two new wide-format flatbed cutters for the textile and board markets: the F3232 and the F3220.

The new printers are larger-format additions to the Summa F Series and expand upon the Belgian manufacturer’s existing portfolio of high-end cutters. The 3.2x3.2m F3232 will begin shipping in February 2019, with the 3.2x2m F3220 following in April.

They are designed for both textile and board applications, such as flags, banners, POS and signage.

Marketing manager Elice van Es said: “Our customers benefit most from finishing machines that perfectly match the size of printers they use, which ensures an efficient print-to-cut-workflow.

“Summa had multiple reasons to develop the new F machines and meet the needs of the customers; most common sizes of textile printers are equipped with a working width of 3.2m and a popular size of large board material is 3.2x2m.

“They are a natural extension of current range using the proven technology that was introduced in 2010, promising ease of use through automatic calibration and automatic tool detection, reliability though their European build and quality control, and productivity through our F performance and productivity tools.”

All available tools and augmentations in the F series will work on the new, larger machines.

According to van Es, the focus for further development of the range will be on “productivity, automation and versatility”. The machines will be sold in the UK through a network of distributors and dealers seeded worldwide by Summa, which also recently added laser-cutting to its technology portfolio.
