Spandex introduces new films

Spandex has added new products for vehicle wrap and interior decoration applications to its portfolio.

It has four new vehicle wrap films from Avery Dennison, 3M and Orafol, as well as an Avery Dennison wall film.

Marketing manager Europe and the UK Gabi Parish said: “Vehicle wrapping and interior decor markets are demonstrating rapid growth.

“These new products were designed to anticipate the needs of customers and end-users, as it gives them more choice and the graphics producer additional product features that make their job easier.”

On the popularity of vehicle wrapping she said: “Wrapping films evolve both technologically and in appearance and new vehicle wrappers enter the market.

“Vehicle wrapping has therefore become more accessible to a wider range of customers which helps fuel the growth.

“There is also a growing trend towards customisation among private owners – the desire to make their car unique – and the range of products available now is fantastic for this."

All the vehicle wrap films bill themselves as highly conformable, making it easier for wrappers to get a smooth result even in highly contoured areas.

The next generation of 3M wrap film, the 1380 series, are long-term cast films for solid colour vehicle wrapping, which 3M said gets rid of the need for extra graphic protection.

The series comes in 14 colours in 1.52m-wide rolls. 3M said that any section of a vehicle can be wrapped without seams.

Spandex is adding five new shades of the Oracal 970 Premium Shift Effect Cast films, launched at Fespa Digital in Amsterdam in March. The films, which change colour depending on viewing angle, are for car wrapping and new colours pearl symphony, avocado, amethyst, aquamarine and ultramarine violet and come in gloss or matt.

Spandex is also introducing three new transparent coloured overlaminates for Avery’s Conform Chrome films in orange, purple and green. Vehicle wrappers can create colour combinations and effects using them with the existing Conform Chrome films in silver, gold, blue, red and black to give a mirror-like finish.

Avery Dennison’s MPI 1105 wrapping series is Spandex’s latest launch for vehicle wraps and other challenging applications offering good printability and image quality, the manufacturer said.

It is compatible with UV, solvent, eco-solvent and latex inks, the films use easy-apply RS adhesive technology.

Adding to Spandex’s range of interior decor solutions is the new Avery Dennison MPI 8000 Wall Film Series in six different options.

These include three textured films, canvas, stone and stucco, to help sign makers create custom wall graphics for short- and long-term applications.

Avery Dennison said the thick films are easy to apply and have the opacity to ensure the underlying wall is concealed.

UK general manager Leon Watson said: “These latest additions reflect the dynamism and growth in the market for innovative and standout products, especially in vehicle wrapping and interior decor.”
