Irish firm Sign+Digital targets UK for expansion

Irish sign materials and wide-format print supplier Sign+Digital has announced its intentions to expand onto the UK mainland.

The Dublin-based firm, which was launched by managing director Leo Maher in 2003, currently employs 23 staff. It supplies a wide range of printing equipment and consumables to the signmaking and large-format printing industry.

It stocks Roland wide-format printers and related equipment, media from 3M, Sihl, Metamark and Orafol, and an array of tools, fixtures and display systems for a number of applications.

“The vast majority of our business is currently in Ireland and Northern Ireland. We’ve never had people on the ground on the UK mainland but we’ve always seen the opportunity because everybody gives us great feedback about our website and our Creative Catalogue which lists all of our products,” said Maher.

“We want to bring this product offering that we have to the UK and we’re going with an engage and educate approach.”

The firm is looking to recruit account managers for specific areas that will target signmakers and large-format printers. They will work within their region from one of the firm’s Creative Cruiser vans, each of which is fully stocked with popular supplies. It currently runs two Creative Cruiser's in Ireland and plans to run more once it has expanded into the UK.

“They have to have the ability to help and engage the customer and be passionate about the materials. As soon as we hire the right person we’ll be on the ground in the UK,” said Maher.

The firm also operates a 232sqm Creative Centre in Dublin, where customers can hone their skills in a number of high-margin areas such as vehicle wrapping, said Maher.

“It’s an inspiration for any customer that has a large-format printer to show them the amount of different things that they can produce.”
