Intec has announced a new B3-plus digital die-cutter that packs a lot of punch for its price and compact footprint.

The ColorCut FB580 is the new upgraded entry-level model in the manufacturer’s ColorCut range of flatbed cutters.

It is targeted at applications including sample and prototype production, and the light production market.

The FB580 can cut and crease in one operation, with tool pressures of up to 1.2kg and a cutting speed of up to 1,200mm per second.

Intec marketing manager Terri Winstanley told Printweek: “The beauty of this device is that is has all the features of our bigger machines, it’s really highly-specified.

“All the files are interchangeable, so users have a fantastic upgrade path – they don’t have to change any of their job files.”

The ColorCut FB580 has a price tag of £4,749 and will ship in May.

It can cut a wide variety of materials from rice paper and synthetics to folding box board, labels and vinyls. The maximum material thickness is 600 microns.

The FB580 has three speed forces when cutting: high definition, standard, and fast.

“These can be adjusted by the operator to accommodate intricate cutting, or cutting straight lines fast,” Winstanley explained.

“You can also use differing speeds within the same job, it’s really powerful.”

Maximum substrate area is 440x580mm.

The device has a seven-inch touchscreen and is driven via Intec’s ColorCut Pro 5 software. It has plug-ins for Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw.

Job setup can be via QR codes, page marks, or a new reverse side cutting feature where the device reads the sheet edges.

The FB580 also features a “no wires” option for repeat jobs that can simply be loaded onto the device via a USB stick.

Intec will exhibit at Drupa on parent company Plockmatic Group’s booth in Hall 8b, alongside sister company Morgana.
