Colour management software specialist GMG has revamped its ColorServer profiling suite to create a triumvirate of products with each fine-tuned to specific processes and applications.

“Customer feedback has shown that we can support users with different challenges much better with three tailor-made solutions,” said Peter Schoeffler, GMG product manager.

“From now on, we are targeting the following market segments: conventional printing, digital printing with both CMYK and multicolour presses, and we are addressing customers who print cross-process using spot colours – primarily from the packaging industry."

The Germany headquartered developer’s latest ColorServer, version 5.2, is now available in either Conventional, Digital and Multicolor packages – all three versions feature the latest version of OpenColor for creating proof and seperation profiles for digital printing.

OpenColor 2.4 is also compatible with the new X-Rite i1Pro3 spectrophotometers and third generation i1iO scanning table.

All three versions of ColorServer 5.2 feature GMG’s OpenColor profiling technology, which can be used with SmartProfiler to enable users to add custom profiles.

ColorServer Conventional is configured with GMG InkOptimizer and has been configured for four-colour commercial and packaging printing.
ColorServer Digital is aimed at wide- and small-format CMYK digital printers and runs GMG SmartProfiler with EcoSave to reduce reduced ink usage and click charges.

While ColorServer Multicolor has been developed for conventional and digital packaging printers. It includes the full suite of plug-ins: SmartProfiler; EcoSave and InkOptimizer.

GMG has created a microsite for the flagship Multicolor version, which features an introductory webinar to give a detailed overview of its features.

"To achieve consistent results across all processes – digital and conventional – there is no way around Multicolor," said Schoeffler. “Jobs can now print on any press available, delivering welcome flexibility in the pressroom.”

Meanwhile, GMG has also recently become an HP PageWide corrugated workflow partner.

“We believe that we can help those who work with HP corrugated presses by providing a way to improve the colour accuracy for their customers,” said GMG's Darrian Young, global partnership manager.
