Europe's first Landa S10 to arrive this month

The first Landa Nanographic digital press to be installed in Europe is on its way to beta site Edelmann in Germany.

A delegation of senior managers from Edelmann visited Israel last month to inspect their Landa S10 B1 inkjet press prior to shipment.

It is now en route to Edelmann's flagship site in Heidenheim, also its headquarters, which specialises in packaging and is described as the largest site of its kind in Europe.

Edelmann has a major presence in the health and beauty markets, with a focus on folding cartons and leaflets. It has worldwide sales of €300m (£266m) and has operations in Europe, China, India and North and South America.

The installation at such a major industry player is viewed as being of huge significance in the context of the roll-out of Landa technology and its future potential for widespread adoption.

Landa Digital Printing chief executive Yishai Amir has previously described Edelmann as "the perfect beta partner".

Edelmann technical director Oliver Sattel has stated that the envisaged potential applications for the S10 include short-run packaging, serialisation, and brand protection. Last year he also said that a fully-functioning Landa AQM closed-loop quality control system was a requirement for the business.

The installation is running two months behind the revised beta site schedule roll-out announced last year

The first beta press, at Graphica Bezalel in Israel, was installed last August

At the time of writing it was not clear whether the US beta installation at Imagine! Print Solutions had gone ahead yet, or not.
