EFI launches Fiery DFEs for Ricoh Pro C7200X series

EFI has unveiled two new Fiery digital front-ends (DFEs) to drive Ricoh Pro C7200X Series production printers.

Color Controller E-85A and E-45A are available from this month and based on the new Fiery FS300 Pro system software, improving performance and colour management, according to EFI.

Both DFEs support the Pro C7200X Series' toner capabilities, including clear, white, neon pink, neon yellow and invisible red, which is used for security applications.

Tools enable users to make colour adjustments as well as makeready and automation enhancements to improve workflow efficiency.

EFI vice-president of Fiery marketing John Henze said the target users were primarily commercial printers or any printer wanting to give clients the “highest level of creative capabilities”.

He did not give prices but said: “These servers are unique because of the combination of Ricoh’s wide range of fifth colour options with the innovations in the latest Fiery FS300 Pro software.

“In a business where every minute counts towards profitability, the Fiery servers provide the highest level of performance, colour quality, automation and usability, making it easy for print service providers to deliver the applications their customers need.”

He added the standout feature is the Fiery ImageViewer, which allows users to see exactly how their jobs will print, therefore reducing waste and rework – important when fifth colour toners are utilised.

Ricoh director of commercial printing Eef de Ridder said: “Fiery is the premier digital front-end platform for commercial digital print.

“Clients can expand their business offerings with the combination of our Pro C7200X Series' creative capabilities, along with powerful Fiery colour and workflow functionality.”

Users can manage speciality toners throughout the entire job workflow, preventing inadvertent errors and reducing waste, he said. They also have the ability to add speciality toners to jobs without going back to pre-press or changing the design file.

Furthermore, they can control whether to apply white toner over or under CMYK and whether to mirror or invert any of the files.

An EFI text and graphics tool lets users print sharp, fine details, small-font-size text and ultra-thin lines with clarity.

Henze added: “These new DFEs provide the essential tools to make customers more productive.

“In addition to the advancements of the Fiery FS300 Pro software they include Fiery Command WorkStation 6 job-management software.

“And Fiery HyperRIP enhancements on the E-85A enable print service providers to double the processing speed on more types of jobs.”

Both servers use the Fiery NX hardware platform and both come with Fiery JobFlow base automation software for streamlined pre-press job preparation.
