C&T reinforces range with steel plates addition

Creasing matrix and profile rubbers manufacturer C&T Channel Matrix has launched a range of steel cutting plates as part of its strategy to offer die-makers, box-makers and print finishers a complete product package.

The 1mm steel cutting plates, which are available with immediate effect, are suitable for use with auto-platens from manufacturers including Bobst, Heidelberg, Iberia and Asahi.

The plates, which are made in Germany, are cut by waterjet to produce a product free from burring. They can be supplied in any quantity required and are available in three different hardnesses – soft 20 Rockwell, medium 35 Rockwell and hard 48 Rockwell. Around 30 different sizes are available and pricing starts from approximately £24 per plate.

C&T Channel Matrix managing director Simon Shenton said: “The quality of these steel cutting plates is exceptional and reflects our commitment to provide our customers with high-class products all backed up with a solid supply line and competitive pricing.”

This latest addition to the Wellingborough-based company’s product range follows its decision earlier this year to start supplying high-quality cutting and creasing steel rules as well as a portfolio of dedicated accessories for Heidelberg cylinder machines.

This year has also seen the business launch a new type of durable counter material for long-run packaging and a new type of creasing matrix for carton manufacturing.

Windles Group recently became C&T's latest major customer. The business, which specialises in manufacturing and printing greetings cards, point-of-display and packaging materials, will use a range of C&T's creasing matrix products as well as the steel cutting plates in medium 35 Rockwell hardness on its Bobst 106 Speria die-cutter.

C&T Channel Matrix technical sales manager for the UK and Europe Howard Mead said: “Windles Group produce a wide range of products requiring the use of creasing matrix, such as greeting cards and retail packaging, so for us it’s a great example of the scope and flexibility that our products can provide.

“We've done really well this year, having taken on about 140 new customers. This has been absolutely outstanding and given us great growth in the UK market.

“The FX is affecting all of our competitors, because the exchange rate has been an issue, whereas we're in a situation where British industry buying from a British manufacturer is a good advantage.”

C&T Channel Matrix offers several brands of creasing matrices including Kiss, Corrugate and Jazz and serves more than 80 countries worldwide. Two months ago the business parted company with its UK distributor Partwell in order to sell more of its products direct.
