C&T Channel Matrix launches new cutting and creasing kit

C&T Channel Matrix is targeting corrugated convertors, carton producers and print finishers with a new consumables range.

The manufacturer of creasing matrices is launching new cutting plates, ejection rubbers and accessories for die makers, box makers and print finishers.

Managing director Simon Shenton said the extended portfolio enabled customers to purchase everything for successful cutting and creasing from one manufacturer and stockist, for the first time.

“The range is targeted at the die-making industry, packaging companies like Smurfit Kappa and packaging printers.

“There are about 200 die makers, but packaging manufacturers including printers number more than 2,000, so it's a large market to go at.”

Shenton said: “Offering this vastly expanded range means we are ensuring a reliable, convenient way to purchase products.

“It is part of a strategy to reposition us as the leading one-stop provider for all UK corrugated convertors, carton producers and print finishers.”

New steel cutting plates in a range of sizes are suitable for Bobst or similar machines and form the backbone of the new collection.

They boast OEM quality and are available in soft, 20 Rockwell, medium, 38 Rockwell, hard and 48 Rockwell, variants.

The firm's products also include a portfolio of plastic parts used by die makers, such as large plastic nuts and bolts, called 'carrots' because of their colour, centre-line blocks and edge protectors.

C&T first started making ejector profile rubber around 40 years ago and its newly extended range includes rubber profiles for solid board and corrugated board.

C&T has added new Open Cell and Vulkollan rubber sheets in a range of thicknesses and shore hardness.

On pricing Shenton said: “Because we are a UK manufacturer we aim to be more competitive than other distributors because we can add these accessories to our creasing matrices and trim margins.”

He added his company had the engineering ability in the UK to produce exact prototype rubber profiles within one week for customer specific requests.

This was why over 60% of C&T Channel’s range consisted of bespoke rubbers, designed specifically to meet individual needs, he said.

Shenton recently appointed Howard Mead as technical sales manager in the UK and Europe and is looking at adding new items to the range including the possibility of steel rules.

Finally, C&T has been appointed a distributor of the Vossen patch-up tape range, used to help control height and pressure of the die in the machine.

The UK-based manufacturer has a head office in Wellingborough and sells and distributes to more than 80 countries and has warehousing and offices in China and India.

C&T Channel Matrix offers brands of creasing matrixes including XTC, PINK, Kiss, Corrugate and Jazz as well as accessories for die-making, die-cutting and print finishing, including ejection rubbers, counter material and patch tape.
