China Print Supplies has expanded its offering by bringing the ThunderJet AQ1800UV 1.8m roll-to-roll UV printer to the UK market.

The business, which supplies Chinese printers and related consumables to the UK and Irish markets, was launched last summer by director Scott Clutton. It has since completed several printer installations.

The company has offered the SinoColor range of flatbed and hybrid printers since launch but wanted to complement the range with a UV roll-to-roll machine.

Clutton recently visited the APPP Expo in Shanghai and was impressed with the ThunderJet AQ1800UV from manufacturer Gongzheng.

He said: “This printer looked to have something special about it. This is a high-resolution UV 1.8m roll-to-roll printer that delivers much more than its price tag would suggest. The superb build quality ensures stability, even through continuous operation, for excellent print results.”

The ThunderJet is designed for multi-layer printing on a range of substrates and comes with both white ink and a varnish option. It is equipped with four Epson i3200 printheads, which deliver 720x1,200dpi prints at speeds of up to 58.5sqm/hr.

Priced at £29,995 fully installed, the ThunderJet comes with a 12-month gold warranty from China Print Supplies.

“This machine is a fantastic option for lightboxes and other front and backlit prints,” said Clutton.

“For its price, the sheer print quality at speed of this machine is as good as anything in the market.”

The machine’s water-cooled print plate dissipates LED heat and keeps media flat, enabling printing on a wide range of materials without wrinkling.

It also features full white ink recirculation to prevent damaging sedimentation during downtime. This protects printheads and maintains consistent performance.

The Thunderjet AQ1800UV can be seen at China Print Supplies’ Telford showroom from the end of April.

China Print Supplies made its debut at The Print Show last year and secured several deals there. It also exhibited at Sign & Digital UK earlier this year and has booked to return to The Print Show later this year.

“As a direct result of being at The Print Show, we have sold six printers and installed three units,” said Clutton.

“We also have several ongoing leads from Sign & Digital UK, which we look forward to installing when they are ready for their new equipment.”
