Antalis launches Graham & Brown and in-house wallcovering ranges

Antalis UK is moving further into the wallcovering media market with the simultaneous launch of an in-house range and one by traditional wallpaper company Graham & Brown.

The Coalville, Leicestershire-based supplier now has more than 20 types of wallcovering finishes in stock, 18 of which are from its own Coala brand. Rolls are variously available in 30m or 50m lengths and 1,370mm and 1,060mm widths but not all types are available in both configurations.

The weights of the media range from 150gsm to 350gsm. All the finishes are suitable for UV, solvent or latex digital printing.

Antalis has signed an exclusive distribution deal with noted wallpaper company Graham & Brown for two of its substrates for digital printing, with more types promised.

The company has been selling printed wallpapers to consumers through the high street since 1946, when its founders Harold Graham and Henry Brown started the business with a large supply of surplus metallic paper, an eight-colour surface printer and a new embossing machine.

Antalis sales manager Mike Collins said: “We’re very proud to announce a link-up with Graham & Brown. This is a new market for them and also for us. There is increasing interest in bespoke digitally printed wallpaper material.

“In the past we’ve sold materials for wall coverings and interior decoration. This is the first time that we’ve got a really broad range of wall covering material. We see it as a market that is growing all the time."

The rolls range from an entry-level uncoated unwoven Coala design up to a top of the range FSC fibre-based non-woven Graham & Brown wallcovering, which sticks on to a pasted wall, making it easier to apply and to peel off.

"It is a really wide range of products in a massive range of finishes and three different types: paste on the wall, paste on the paper and those you can apply with just water. There’s a solution for everybody’s needs," Collins said.

Antalis said the substrates were ideal for achieving a high degree of authenticity in the reproduction of paintings, photographs, and graphics as well as meeting requirements for fire resistance, light fastness and easy cleaning. An anti-bacterial coating for environments such as hospitals is also available.

Antalis UK, which is approaching a turnover of £734m with 1,100 staff, plans to show its wallcovering range in public for the first time at Fespa Digital, held from 8-11 March in Amsterdam.
