Another price rise for Mitsubishi HiTec Paper

Mitsubishi HiTec Paper is increasing the cost of all its coated specialty papers by 6% from 1 April.

The Bielefeld, Germany-based manufacturer said this was in response to the continued rise of the price of raw materials.

The company said: “Since 2015, costs for raw materials and chemicals have significantly increased in particular due to the important changes in currencies and could not be compensated despite actions already carried out. In light of the market price level this still results in an imbalance of costs and pricing.”

This is the second time in seven months that the German subsidiary of Mitsubishi Paper Mills has increased prices. There was an 8% rise in June, which the company also blamed on the high cost of raw materials.

Last year Sappi, Lecta and Portucel also bumped up prices, citing the same market conditions.

The coated speciality papers manufactured at the’ German Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe in Bielefeld, include high-quality thermal papers (thermoscript), digital imaging papers (jetscript), carbonless papers (giroform) and label papers (supercote).

Mitsubishi HiTec Paper added that its sales team representatives will contact customers directly.
