Xerox launches world's fastest mono printer: the Nuvera 288

Xerox has officially launched the fastest black and white printing press on the market, and unveiled a raft of other mono and colour products.

The new machines were announced last week at the On Demand exhibition in Boston, US, and at Xerox’s Forum for customers in Rome.

The tandem engine Nuvera 288 has been made available after a prototype of the machine was showcased at Graph Expo in Chicago last October. It incorporates two Nuvera 144 engines and can produce 288 A4 mono pages per minute – beating the record set by Oce’s VarioPrint 6250 by 38 A4ppm.

Xerox European business team manager for monochrome production systems Jonathan Edwards said: “The book printing market is the main opportunity for the 288. It’s a high-end, high-demand product.

“For the transactional market, the 288 also offers very high quality mono.”

The Nuvera 100, 120, 144 and 288 products incorporate Xerox’s EA toner technology, which creates a smoother, offset matt finish.

On the colour front, Xerox has launched the DocuColor 260, which operates at 60ppm, in addition to the DocuColors 242 and 252, which replace the 240 and the 250 respectively.

The products target markets including office, repro, quick print, commercial print and creative agencies.

• Danka Europe has been rebranded following its takeover by Ricoh. The division will now be known as Infotec.
