Xerox is showing an offset press for the first time in Hall 18 at the show.
In the move, which has been widely hinted at but wasnt confirmed until the show opened, Xerox is showing the PAX (Presstek/Adast/Xerox) DI, which it is driving using the Digipath front-end.
For the first time we are enabling offset to interface with the corporate environment through Digipath, said David Tashji, Xerox worldwide marketing manager at its graphic arts business document solutions group. DI and digital imaging are complementary.
Xerox has yet to take a decision on whether it will actually sell the PAX DI and is waiting to see the response it gets at the show before making a formal decision.
Presstek has revealed that there is a variable data printing unit for the PAX DI on the drawing board, which will overprint on the machine during the run.
