WPG has revamped its digital offering with the installation of a 120ppm Konica Minolta press to replace its Kodak Nexpress.

The Welshpool, Powys firm installed the Konica Minolta AccurioPress C12000 in August, when it joined existing Konica Minolta engines.

Joint managing director Paul Jones said: “Not only are we amazed by the high quality print the new Konica press delivers, but also that it does so at an extremely fast speed, meaning we can take on more work and offer even quicker turnaround times for our customers.”

The C12000 can handle media up to 450gsm and has a long sheet capability of 900mm duplex or 1,300mm simplex. It features the manufacturer’s IQ-501 auto quality adjustment (AQA) system.

According to Jones, the long sheet capability was a particular draw.

“Landscape brochures are a popular choice for a lot of our customers and previously, we have had to print them on our litho machines, this along with the larger range of media options, will increase the range of jobs we can offer to our customers.”

The family-run business offers a broad set of services from general commercial services to workwear, sign and display and promotional products, including trophies.

The latest investment means the commercial print operation has essentially reequipped all three tenets of its print production.

Last summer, the 36-staff business installed a highly automated B2 Komori Lithrone LS29 H-UV eight-colour perfector and Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX 2.5m-wide UV flatbed.
