Woman jailed over print theft

A woman has been jailed for defrauding hundreds of thousands of pounds from the print company she worked for, according to reports.

Newsquest York's The Press said that Julie Walker took money from Circle Print to fund her internet gambling habit, bringing the company she helped found in 2006 into liquidation less than two years later.

The 41-year-old was jailed for a year by Judge Peter Benson at York Crown Court after pleading guilty to the theft of £145,915.

According to the paper, Walker had deceived business partner Gill Hastings, claiming cash flow problems were down to a factoring agreement with the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Hastings has since opened a new print company Focus 4 Print at the premises after putting Circle Print, then trading as Raysul Print, into liquidation.
