Warners (Midlands) warns of redundancies

Commercial printer Warners (Midlands) has announced that it is likely to be making redundancies in a bid to improve efficiency.

The Bourne-based company, which has an annual turnover of around £30m, began a review of the whole business in spring last year. The review is due to come to a close in March this year.

Managing director Philip Warner told PrintWeek: "Unfortunately it will involve some redundancies but these will be kept to a minimum and involve a small percentage of our workforce.

"We expect most of any reduction to be achieved through natural wastage."

According to PrintWeek's 2008 Top 500, the company employs more than 300 staff.

Warner said that the company had record sales in December last year.

Unite confirmed that it was in consultation with Warners over the redundancies and said there was a good relationship between the company and the union.
