Vista Labels to make room for eighth Mark Andy

Vista Labels in Stockport has added an eighth Mark Andy press and is to expand its factory as part of a 1.3m expansion programme.

The pharmaceutical labels specialist has bought a slice of land adjoining the current Hempshaw Lane site and plans to extend both its factory and warehouse.

The firm now runs seven Mark Andy 2200 presses, a larger Mark Andy 4150 machine, and two Etipol Combi 270 letterpress machines.
"The performance of the 2200 series has been fundamental to this company's success. It's a relatively simple press that does everything well," said Vista managing director Don Grice.

Vista has also launched rotary cold-foiling, a technique it has developed with Mark Andy and an unnamed foil manufacturer.

Sales director Tim Grice said that the finish with cold foil was "brighter and more rub resistant than the more traditional hot foil stamping, and [it] can be run at least seven times as fast."

He added that the technique had opened new markets including household and automobile products.
