Martin Gale, managing director of UPM-Kymmene's Shotton Paper and Caledonian Paper, has been named as the new president of the Paper Federation of Great Britain.
Gale replaces Alan McKendrick, who has taken up his role as the new president of the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) earlier than expected, replacing the recently retired James Daglish of Tullis Russell Papermakers.
Gale will be inaugurated at the Paper Federation's annual dinner on 26 April.
CPI director general Peter Scott said: "Martin will bring an entirely new perspective to the position, given his experience in the industry."
"It will also mean that at a time when newsprint is a main focus topic for the industry, both industry bodies have at their helm representatives of that part of the industry."
