The turnout, which exceeded expectations, enjoyed an exhibition dedicated to the finalists of the PrintIT! competition, which involved coming up with a print campaign for Fairtrade.
The Picon-led initiative aimed to attract more young people to the print industry and involved 545 schools and several "twin" print firms.
Among the exhibitors were HP, Heidelberg and the BPIF. Polestar ran PrintDynamics seminars to highlight the perks of the print industry.
BPIF deputy chief executive Cicely Brown said: "The combination of PrintIT!, PrintDynamics and the industry is a powerful advertisement for youngsters considering their careers."
PrintIT! schools co-ordinator Mary Buck said the "twinning" work placement concept had been a success.
