Startup comparison website to set printers head-to-head on price

Young entrepreneur Ryan Everitt plans to launch a print price comparison website that he hopes will become the equivalent of moneysupermarket for printing.

UKprintingcomparison.net enables users to compare prices of 176 products from hundreds of printing companies.

The site will officially launch on 1 January 2011 and already has 212 suppliers signed up, and Everitt has ambitions to add thousands more printers as well as substrate suppliers in the future.

The site will be supported with integration into Facebook, and an iPhone app so that users on the move can find the nearest printer to them via a postcode search.

Users can sort by price, distance, turnaround time, postage and more, and product pages will also include promotional offers and highlight new sign ups to the service.

The 19-year-old said he charges a small fee to printers in order to get listed, but ultimately only wants to make enough money to cover the costs of web hosting. He said his goal with this project is to make a name for himself - a stepping stone to realising his ambition of launching a satellite into space.

The website won't have a direct shopping facility integrated within it but will direct users through to the website of the printer clicked on. It will also enable users to add ratings and reviews of printers, so that other users can view testimonials of previous customers alongside prices.

Everitt's interest in the print industry stems from his father who spent 16 years with Heidelberg.
